The next Thornham peace walk will take place this Sunday 11th June.
We will be meeting at 2pm outside St James' Church, to walk to the Tandle Hill monument to acknowledge and name our local men who died in the First World War.
We will be walking up Thornham Lane, so suitable clothing and footwear is required.
In the light of last night's awful events, our churches will be open tonight for anyone who would like a space for prayer and reflection.
At St Mary's, following the usual said eucharist at 7pm, the church will remain open until about 8.30pm.
Afterwards, St James' Church will also be open, from about 8.30pm onwards.
Wherever you are, please pray for all affected families, that they will know God's loving presence, and for all of us that we will have the strength to stop fear, anger and hatred from overcoming Christ's way of reconciliation, compassion and peace.
Ascension Day is one of the Christian Church's principal holy days.
40 days after Easter, we celebrate Jesus' ascension to heaven.
As usual, we will be holding a joint benefice Sung Eucharist for this special day. This year it will be hosted at St Mary's Church, High Crompton, on Thursday 25 May at 7.30pm.
St James' Church and Gravelhole Methodist Church are hosting a joint coffee morning on Saturday 13th May in St James' Church Hall, Thornham Lane. (Directions available here).
Time: 10.00am - 12.00pm.
Please come along to help raise funds for the Thornham Whit Walk band. Plenty of refreshments and raffle prizes!
Admission: £1 (children free.).
Today Sunday school did some work about the Resurrection.
We wrote some prayers and some are on our new display. We also attached some to balloons which we let go in the car park and watched them as they disappeared into the clouds.
