First Communion.

In the benefice of High Crompton and Thornham, as with an increasing number of Church of England parishes, it is no longer necessary for children to be confirmed in order to receive Holy Communion.

We do still, however, have certain requirements for children who have not been confirmed to receive Communion:
  • they must have been baptised; and
  • they must be in at least Year 3 (or the equivalent) at school; and
  • they must have attended our first communion class.

These classes take place once per week for about 11 weeks, with each session lasting about an hour. They are interactive and lots of fun, using bright and colourful  age-appropriate learning materials.

Each child needs to be accompanied by an adult sponsor - typically a parent or carer, but could also be another relative, godparent or family friend.

For more information about when the next course will run and how to enrol your child on, please contact our Vicar.
